Tubal evaluation is a medical procedure used to assess the condition of a woman's fallopian tubes. Two common methods for tubal evaluation are the HSG (Hysterosalpingography) and SSG (Sonohysterosalpingography) procedures. These tests are often performed to evaluate the patency (openness) and structural integrity of the fallopian tubes, which play a crucial role in fertility. Here's an overview of each procedure:

1. Hysterosalpingography (HSG):
 Purpose: HSG is a radiologic procedure used to evaluate the shape and patency of the fallopian tubes and the uterine cavity.
 Procedure: During HSG, a contrast dye is injected into the uterine cavity through the cervix. X-ray images are then taken as the dye flows through the uterus and fallopian tubes. The images can reveal any blockages or abnormalities in the fallopian tubes.
 Indications: HSG is often used to investigate the cause of infertility, recurrent miscarriages, or other uterine or tubal issues.

2. Sonohysterosalpingography (SSG):
 Purpose: SSG is a similar procedure to HSG but uses ultrasound instead of X-rays to visualize the female reproductive organs.
 Procedure: During SSG, a saline solution is injected into the uterine cavity through the cervix, and a transvaginal ultrasound is used to monitor the flow of saline. The procedure allows for real-time visualization of the uterus and fallopian tubes.
 Indications: SSG is also used to assess the uterine and tubal anatomy, especially in cases of infertility or recurrent miscarriages. It is considered a safer alternative for patients who want to avoid X-ray exposure.

Both HSG and SSG provide valuable information about the condition of the fallopian tubes and the uterine cavity. If there are any blockages, abnormalities, or structural issues, these tests can help identify them. Depending on the findings the next treatment may be recommended to address any problems detected during tubal evaluation.
